Wow. Blogging is getting to be rewarding. Or at least
it is for the audience-hungry writer in me (read me! read
me! …
Well, that’s one side of it. But a more level-headed analysis
would be that blogging is indeed a rewarding activity if, and only if,
you get to deliver good content (well, at least good enough for easy,
everyday reading) and that you do this regularly. As it’s said,
“build it and they will come.”
I’ve built. And thankfully you came.
Thanks to regular readers who had taken the time to post feedback. As of this 3:00 a.m., my webalizer says jangelo.i.ph got 11,336
visits from 3,504 sites (readers; the number is actually less, since
this is counted by unique IP address) for the month of May (excluding
this upcoming whole day of May 31, which would probably yield around
350 visits. This also includes sub-blogs/subdomains like that of
my brother, Vince before he transferred to his own i.PH domain a few days after hosting his site under this domain, and Caren. But I can say that it’s likely that most of the traffic leads to either the main blog or the photoblog. After all, these are the most updated blogs in the jangelo.i.ph domain.
This is a 56% increase from April page views of 7,252.
Again, thinking back to when I started blogging, I had been ecstatic when my old blog (then hosted by blog*spot) reached the 2,000 mark after two months of blogging. And this was after things got hot when I blogged (1st post, compilation) about what some consider to be the email hoax of 2004.
I can now affirm that it’s the content that would make or break a
blog. And this is what I had been focusing on for the past few
months. You may notice I haven’t made a design change since I
switched to three-column. I’ve made minor revisions here and
there, but the basic format is still the same. I still try to
think up things to write, or link to interesting articles. And of
course, networking is still the best way to get read. And you
make good friends along the way.
What’s interesting is that in each and every month, the number one
search keywords that point to the J Spot has to do with sex, as can be
seen in the table below. And I’ve noticed quite a number of
searches on “pangako sa’yo,” most likely since the ABS-CBN soap’s lead character
is a namesake. I was scratching my head on who Paola Germar was,
but Google tells me she’s an acquaintance of my brother.
Of course, there are the staples: the searches on sun, globe and smart
network features/promos. If I get to discover new hacks on how to
surf via GPRS for free, I’d gladly post them here. There are also
the inquiries on economics, such as causes of underemployment in the
country and expanded VAT–things I can probably discuss, but would need
some further research.
So again, thanks to those who find the J Spot a good enough read.
I’ll do my best to keep it up. I’ll be recording a podcast soon
enough, when I get the time and the all-too-important quiet location
(haven’t got a studio of my own). Comments, suggestions, violent
reactions, and chocolate donations are very much welcome.
