AdSense Adlinks: Any Good?

I blogged about ditching the AdSense Adwords at the J Spotter. Seemed like it was not such a good idea to keep the adlinks as a header banner after all.
I got dismal clickthrough rates (as in zarro clicks!), even though it was one of the highest in page impressions.
And it may also be misconstrued that I’m trying to fool readers into
thinking it’s a navigation header. Not true,of course.
Yuga also posted on this issue.
In fact, he posts a handful of articles on how blogs are becoming online billboards
nowadays, being plastered with ads all around–pretty much like how
EDSA, a main thoroughfare in Manila, has become to be in the past few
years.
At any rate, while AdLinks may be cool to include with some types of
sites (i.e. those sites where people really click on stuff to get to
what they’re looking for), it may not be appropriate for most sites,
especially blogs.
After all, with blogs, it’s the content the readers are after. The ads
are just secondary. And with tech blogs such as this, theory is that
unless the readers are looking into buying software or techie stuff,
they’d rather keep on reading.
So the J Spotter
says bye to AdLinks for now. As an experiment, I’ll keep the adlinks
here active (they’re over at the sidebar in case you’re looking for
something).
