Call it writer’s block, paranoia, or a general sense of craziness, I made google searches with references to my name

and other entities associated with myself before, and I’m surprised to

see several relevant sites either by me, or referring to me, dating to

almost ten years back!  I’m surprised the older sites are still up and

running to date.  Here’s a rundown of several links,

ranging from those in the mid-1990’s to the fairly recent ones.

  • The Centauri Net site, dating to 1996, speaks of a Bulletin Board System (BBS) network my board was part of.

  • This geocities site,

an index of Filipino website, likewise points to my old Cyeber County

BBS website (link since broken–the site was hosted under my old sky

    internet account).

  • This BBS listing

cited several BBS networks I was part or founder of (i.e. USCNet,

Centauri Net), but it doesn’t feature my Board.  Hmm … Other

    BBS listings here: 1 2

  • The Autonet Manila site,

a site I came up with circa 1997, when a couple of uncles and I planned

to go into the business of buying and selling cars.  I never got

to develop the site, but I was surprised people were leaving comments on the guestbook up to late last year!

  • Advert for Globe Autoload Advantage on the Esato Forums

This is fairly recent (late 2003).  I already removed the advert

page on my geocities account (which now redirects to my blog).

  • The UPROTC-SSB webisite.  This is good.  Fairly recent (circa 2002).  You can see my name under the members’ profile.

  • Of course, there are my pbase accounts jangelo and jangelo2, mostly containing pics from 2003 (when Sofia was still an infant).

  • And then there’s my photonski account.  Fairly more recent than pbase–I became an active photonski member (both the site and the egroup) mid-2004.

  • I’m quite proud to be a YOU Blog Addict (February 2005).

Browsing through some of the sites, in particular the BBS listings,

I can’t help but feel quite nostalgic.  I remember the days when

the

internet was not yet popular in the Philippines, and Bulletin Board

Systems were the norm (well, with techies, at least).  Email was

almost unheard-of, and people were still waiting ten years to get a PLDT line.  I set up my

own board using an old 386 laptop, going online in the night.

Network-mail at that time comprised fido-net type netmail and echomail.

Browsing through the names of the people I used to network with via

BBSes (directly or indirectly), I came up with quite a few people who

are pretty much well-known and/or successful in their respective

fields: Sacha Chua, Fatima Lasay, MLQIII, Jim Ayson, Martin Gomez.

Ahh, the old days.
