Just got a new notebook for the office, and I’m
currently test-driving it (yep, that includes writing this post).
This is probably the last ever stock of the HP-Compaq Presario M2028
in the country, a model which I was told sold like hotcakes given the
PhP 45,000 price (about US$ 818). That’s not as cheap by U.S.
standards, but it’s good enough here, considering the mean price for a Centrino-based
notebook is about PhP 80k to 90k (about US$ 1,500) for the entry-level
ones to upwards of PhP 120k for the higher-end (US$ 2,200 up).
The marketing team can surely show off Calliope and i.PH
better with this baby’s large 15″ screen. Yes, indeedy. But
for my personal use, I’d still prefer something smaller like the
14-incher I currently lug around almost everywhere I go. As I posted earlier, if I had the extra PhP 64k, I’d go for an iBook G4 12″. But as things are, I don’t, so I’m making do with what I have.
Something like this would surely be an excellent birthday gift for someone I know.
Any potential gift-givers?
