If you grew up scared of other dimensions, alternate realities, or whatever else they’re called (basically the Twilight Zone stuff), check this out: physicists are now exploring the idea. From Physorg.com: Is there another world in the mirror?
Lawrence Krauss concludes [his] book [Hiding in the Mirror: the Mysterious Allure of Extra Dimensions, from Plato to String Theory and Beyond] with
a discussion of something even more exotic than the possibility of six
or seven extra microscopically small extra dimensions. This involves
the recent theoretical discovery that some or all of these dimensions
could in fact be infinitely large and still remain hidden, a discovery
that was made in part by one of Krauss’ former doctoral students.
Spooky stuff, huh? Happy halloween!

1also interesting to note that these ideas have been illustrated in popular literature. alice in “wonderland; through the looking glass” and also the “mirror of her dreams” and “a man rides through” (some of my favorite fantasy stories…)
