Low-cost air travel invades the Philippines

Finally, low-cost airlines are flying to and from the Philippines.
Check these out:
Large print ads appeared in the papers just recently. Imagine,
flying (one-way) to Singapore for as low as US$ 59 (about PhP 3,245) or
to KL, Malaysia for just PhP 2,144 (about US$ 39). Even with the
added travel taxes (usually PhP 1,650 or US$ 30 here) that’s cheaper
than air travel to tourist spots or other provinces in the country.
Of course, as low-cost airlines go, fares are dependent on demand and
availability. And you can expect a no-frills, no-bells,
no-whilstles ride.
But hey, that sure is cheap.
