Got my Moleskine notebook in the mail last Friday. It was sent in by a generous US-based Pinoy reader who read about my interest in the notebooks. I was actually putting off going to the post office as I thought the notice was for my latest batch of Ubuntu CDs (Dapper Drake), which I already have a copy of (care of Jason), and thus could afford to wait. But I was also expecting the notebook. Good thing it had already arrived.
I can say it’s teh cool and it’s teh sexy.
Actually, what makes the notebook cool isn’t the material or construction itself, but the way people are so passionate about their using their Moleskines, whether for writing, drawing or getting-things-done. Well, the paper and the binding are teh sexy, too. It’s in the way you can lay the notebook flat on a table (perhaps while drawing or sketching) and the way that the paper absorbs ink or pencil graphite.
At any rate, I think pictures speak louder than words. So I’ll just post a few photos here.

If you’d like to learn more about the Moleskine, I found a blog that regularly features stories, artwork and testimonials from artists and writers who use (or used) the notebook and Moleskine enthusiasts alike. Do mosy over to Moleskinerie.
As for my notebook, I’ve yet to decide what to use it for. Am mostly online/electronic these days, but having something on paper would be cool for a change.
Gas prices too high? Go the extra mile with the green liter.

3wow! So lucky of you. The first and last time I had a moleskin notebook was when I got one as a gift when I graduated from highschool. Wasn’t in to blogging back then so I really made good use of it, too bad I was able to use up all of the pages in my first semester of college. I still keep it though, a treasure box of memories, thoughts and some failed exams.
Maybe I should include one in my wishlist, hehehe
BTW: I’m still waiting for my Ubuntu 6.06 CDs, I’m just dying to get it up and running in my pc.

4Ubuntu 6.06 is great. Though I have to admit, I’m still a Windoze user. I don’t have the patience to configure and customize Linux for my laptop. I like it how with Windows XP everything’s automatic and plug-and-play. As for security, it’s a matter of the user’s having common sense!
I have to give it to Ubuntu, though, for working on my new Presario seamlessly, even auto-detecting all the devices and installing the appropriate drivers. Even Windows didn’t detect the video, network, sound and modem devices on first install.

6Mia,
Yeah, the paper is sexy. Now we’re certified Moleskine-heads!
Now I gotta practice my handwriting. Lemme see … The last time I actaully wrote anything on paper was … hmmm … so long ago.

9@Jason, yeah, ask someone to send you one. Mahal eh. My notebook retails for $24 yata.
@Jayvee, there are local sellers. They import directly and then resell for a small patong. I’ll post the link or contact info here sometime (gotta search for it in my gmail).
But better if you get it as pasalubong (especially if free!
).
