Just lost all of my data on my USB drive (small capacity & doubles as an MP3 player). No worry. I didn’t lose much–just some podcasts and some documents I could find scattered elsewhere across my laptop and desktop’s hard discs anyway.

Wait, my entire Portable Sunbird calendar was in there! At least my life didn’t depend on my e-calendar, like with some people (I’d rather go for web-based calendars. Paper works, too.).

Lesson learned: don’t trust your teeny USB flash drives 100%. They can fail, you know. They’re designed to fail after a certain number of read/write cycles.

As for me, I was able to recover my drive using the manufacturer-supplied low-level reformatting tool.
