PayPal Now Available in the Philippines

Check out my post on the “PayPal for the Philippines blog.”:http://www.paypalnow.com.ph/blog/archives/paypal-now-available-in-the-philippines/

PayPal has included the Philippines in its limited-functionality list. This means you can now register for an account and use it to pay online. That’s it. We still cannot do the following:

# Receive money
# Load up the account thru credit card
# Withdraw money into a bank account

It’s a good development, but not good enough. Pinoys can now buy and pay for stuff online. But we cannot receive funds from other PayPal (and credit card) users here and abroad, which is, I think, what we need more. We’re still hoping (and lobbying) for full-fledged PayPal functionalities.

How to open a PayPal Philippines account

If you can’t receive funds and can’t also load up using your credit card or bank account, how will you be able to get funds to your account? Hmmm…

This is good news for those who wants to pay products and services which can only be paid through Paypal.

Paypal really opened the doors for the Philippines but there is a bad effect in our economy since it only allows sending money. All transactions is going out and money is leaving our country, our economy suffers. I would like to encourage everyone to visit http://digg.com/tech_news/Paypal_in_the_Philippines and let’s dig it to let the world know the effect of limitations in Philippine Paypal accounts.

Where do you find that note that it can only be used to pay and not to receive any payment?

Thanks for the links everyone.

@Ia, thanks. No prob. Here or there–it’s the same. Any linklove is greatly appreciated.

@Jhay, thanks. It’s not solely because of our efforts, though. In fact, I do think PayPal has been planning to re-activate the Philippines and other Asian countries for some time now.

@Ka Edong, thanks. It’s a good step. But we have a long way to go. A good start, nonetheless.

@Alfa, sign up for an account and try clicking any of the following: Request Money, Add funds, withdraw funds. They’re all disabled. You can only pay, send money and pay for eBay items.

good news! though a little bit..’sup*t’, as they say in tagalog (uh, sorry about that, j, hehe). personally, paypal still has no use for me in this limited functionality ‘mode’.

but as they say — one step at a time!

@Corsarius, yeah, it’s really a drag. Some say it’s disadvantageous to the economy because money flows out. But I think if goods and other things of value come in anywyay, then it’s ok. At least Pinoys get a better way to pay for stuff online.

@Noemi, yes. We shall!

Full Paypal services WON’T happen anytime in the Philippines. Why? Because I’ve two con artists who have fake feedback scores who can also summon several lackeys who will “bid” on that fake item as well. Making you feel “sure” that you’ve won that item.

And if they can hack feedback scores; then they can certainly hack into any Paypal account as well!

Yeah Paypal is now available in the Philippines but you can only use it for shopping online, you won’t be able to receive funds if you’re selling on eBay. There is no definite time yet when are they going to make PayPal here fully functional (sending & receive).

Wanna share it with you guys. After long research, I got a solutions and it’s guaranteed working cuz I got mine already.

Its guaranteed that you will be verified by PayPal allowing you to receive and send money.

I haven’t been to the US yet and I was able to get a verified PayPal Account associating my US Bank Account.

STEPS:

1. Open a US Bank Account (even you’re not from the US. Use your Philippine address, that’s cool.
2. Open a US PayPal account – using any US address – don’t worry PayPal won’t verify your address – it’s the bank account that will be verified.
3. Add your newly-opened US Bank Account to your US PayPal Account.
4. PayPal will then deposit small amounts to that bank account ( that should appear on your bank transaction history within 2-3 days). You will have internet banking facilities with that account.
5. Enter to your PayPal the exact amounts they have deposited to your bank.
6. There you go. You are now a verified US PayPal account holder having the privileges of receiving and sending money online.
