can I have a free .com.ph domain? I am a fairly new blogger, and am just starting to tell people about my blog.. It mostly talks about women, Filipinas in particular and having a .com.ph will be really great.. :)

First, I want to share my experience on writing software. But unlike most programmer's blog, I don't want to deal with mostly technical details like how to do this in PHP, Java, or Ruby, Linux or Windows. A lot of Pinoy programmers already deal with that. I want to focus on the people aspect of software development, especially the challenges in dealing with managers and customers.

Second, I am an aspiring entrepreneur and I want to share my experience on growing a business; something like "a programmer's journey into the business of software" (that could be tagline :)) Hopefully, it would inspire other Pinoy programmers to try starting their own business. I have not officially started one but I am already working on an app right now.

I am bit uneasy on moving my existing blog because I feel it would be unfair to visitors if I put unrelated posts in the new domain.

Hi Greg! Thanks for the response.

The basic premise is that the bloggers who will be given free .com.ph domains would actually be using the sites. Hence, we are initially targetting bloggers who are quite active, and have a considerable following (i.e., in terms of traffic and discussion/comments). Of course, we wouldn't want to give away domains to people who will just sit on them.

After all, we do want to encourage the use of .com.ph.

In this regard, we think it's best that bloggers migrate to the new domain. However, if you would rather set-up the domain with a new blog, or a different web site or application altogether, of course we're open to discussions. What do you have in mind? :)
