Stephen O’Grady of RedMonk shares tips on how to read blogs more efficiently

While the post is quite dated (September ‘04), I still find it very

useful for those who intend to simplify blog reading.  It’s

basically with the use of an RSS/XML aggregator.  So instead of

having to search through blogs or having to switch through numerous

sites to find fresh content, everthing is aggregated and one would be

able to focus on the content itself.  I find this a really useful

feature, hence my advocacy of the use of RSS and other XML feeds (Atom,

for instance, which I do prefer at times).  What’s good is that

you can also get feeds from news sites such as CNN, CNet, and Yahoo!, among others.

How it works.  To get the feel of reading through an RSS aggregator, click here for my public Bloblines blogroll (for those with existing accounts, the blogs or sites with new items would be marked bold; this test version will just display all available feeds from a site).

If you already have a reader, you can add my feed using this URL.  If you’re a Bloglines subscriber, click here to add my feed.

There are numerous readers out there, aside from Bloglines, such as Newsgator, FeedDemon, and even some email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird and Outlook and Outlook Express (with the appropriate plugins).

Ah, the beauty of RSS and XML feeds.
