Lyndon wonders why people are going ga-ga over Star Wars Ep3:

I don’t get why people bought

tickets for the first hour of Star Wars Episode III’s worldwide

release. It’s been declared that Episode I and II are mediocrities, so

why support this likely bleh movie?

Are we that starved for entertainment that we can’t wait to see Lucas’

latest letdown? No wonder Beerkada has reached a certain height of

popularity: people all-too readily lap up second-rate diversions.

I

agree that the acting for the Star Wars movies (at least Episodes I and

II) is not exactly Oscar material (i.e. it ranges from mediocre to

really bad).  But for someone who’s watched the first trilogy

(err, the last trilogy?) and the first two prequels, something would be

missing if I were not to watch the third installment.  I’d say

George Lucas’ “latest letdown” would bring the story full circle.

OK, we know that Anakin Skywalker hooks up with Padme Amidala, turns to

the dark side and all that, but I think it would be interesting to get

the details in all its visual glory (i.e. the hairdos?).

In the state we’re in, a little bit of entertainment, no matter how minor or mediocre would go a long way.
