Bloglines Beta is Cool

I’ve stuck it out with Bloglines even when there were other RSS readers touted to be more cool (okay, I also used Vienna when I used my Powerbook as my main work machine). Even though the interface was a bit dull, I found beauty in the simplicity (and the lack of snazzy AJAXy effects).
Now, Bloglines has redesigned and has released its new features and interface as a beta.

Why I like it:
* Drag and drop reorganization of feeds
* Feeds are marked as read when they are actually shown in the window, not when the whole page is loaded (meaning you might have missed those posts at the bottom of the page)
* Quick switch to quick and full views
* Less page refreshes
* Seems spiffier, overall. Not like Google reader which takes forever to load.
Bloglines plasn to release this new version in full before the year ends. You can try the beta yourself by logging in to beta.bloglines.com — use your existing Bloglines login!

Part of my new year cleaning up ops, I’ll be cleaning up my Bloglines RSS subscriptions, and hence my blogroll. Loading up my Bloglines subs can be a bit of a pain due to the sheer number of subscriptions (nearing 600 in all). Firefox always gives me that warning that the script loading the subscriptions is taking too long to finish up.
Aside from using Bloglines as a feed reader, I also use my public subscriptions as my blogroll. Think that’s lazy? I think it’s smart. The lazy part is me not being able to clean up the mess I’d made as I go.
So I’ll be deleting those feeds I never really get to read, and will limit my “public” subscriptions to those I really intend to link to on my blogs.
I’m sure no one will notice.
In case I inadvertently take your site off my links list, please give me a buzz. If I don’t put the link back up, then it might mean I don’t really like you or something.
