WSJ columnist Jeremy Wagstaff talks on a very screwed way to try to build buzz in the blogosphere.  He says he got an email from Bubbler asking him to check out Wired Magazine founder John Battelle’s blog (Which mentions something about Bubbler) and to “and add a comment and a link to [his] blog if [Jeremy is] excited about it.”

Talk about the antithesis of corporate blogging.

Generating buzz is not about telling people what to do, but writing good stuff, and letting readers form their own opinions.

I’m sure whoever wrote the email did not intened it to sound as

such.  But what’s done is done, and Mr. Wagstaff has apparently wagged his staff, with his intelligence being insulted.

Lesson learned: evangelize but don’t proselytize.
