Turns out we actually have TWO brains. So where’s the second one? It’s in your stomach and intestines. Pretty crazy, huh?

An article in the NY Times first publicized this idea for the

general public in 1996, and the author and researcher, Michael Gershon,

went on to write a book about it, The

Second Brain: The Scientific Basis of Gut Instinct and a Groundbreaking

New Understanding of Nervous Disorders of the Stomach and Intestines, published in 1998.

So next time you have that weird feeling in your guts, it’s either you’re hungry, you really

have to go to the bathroom or your second brain or gut feel is reacting

to circumstances and telling you to react one way or another.
