From Bank Information Center USA: Unpacking the ADB: A Guide to Understanding the Asian Development Bank
My mother had been working for the Asian Development Bank
for about 21 years now. The Bank always held some sort of mystery
to my mind, both in the physical sense and otherwise. The
physical aspect itself seemed so grandiose–from the old building at
Roxas Blvd (which now houses the Department of Foreign Affairs), to the new building in Ortigas. The benefits to staffers is perhaps unmatched. The bank seemed to have more money than any entity could have.
I learned more about its inner workings when i got into development work with NEDA,
but the mystery is still there, along with the hope that someday I
might also be able to work there (at time of writing, I am held
ineligible because of my mother’s regular posting there, as are other
dependents and relatives up to a certain degree).
